Emergency Heating / Cooling Assistance:
Emergency Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) Winter Crisis and Summer Crisis Programs
Federally funded programs designed to help eligible Ohioans meet the rising cost of home heating during the winter and home cooling during the summer. Applicants must meet 175% of Federal Poverty Guidelines. For more information, contact Community Action Committee of Pike County Social Service department at 740-289-4525 Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Winter Crisis Program
(Also called Emergency HEAP)
The Winter Crisis Program can prevent disconnection of heating utilities and restore heating services to eligible households that have been disconnected. This program can also pay for an emergency delivery of bulk fuel when the supply is down to 25% or less. Households may receive assistance one time during the program.
The Winter Crisis Program runs from November 1, 2021 through March 31, 2022.

ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF INCOME
If you receive Wages (including salaries, tips, commissions, and/or bonuses), Social Security, SSI, SSDI (even received by child), Pension, Retirement, OWF/TANF, Unemployment, Employment Disability, Worker's Compensation, Utility Reimbursement from your apartment complex, IRA Profits, Divorce Settlements, Alimony, Active Military Pay, Rental Income. GROSS INCOME VERIFICATION FOR THE LAST 30 DAYS (PAY STUBS, AWARD LETTER, BANK STATEMENT SHOWING DEPOSIT, PAYMENT PRINTOUT OR STATEMENT FROM ISSUING AGENCY).
If you are Self Employment (including owning your own business, babysitting, home party sales, odd jobs), or Seasonal Employment (including construction, landscaping, teachers not paid with 12-month contract): GROSS INCOME VERIFICATION FOR LAST 12 MONTHS (IRS 1040 AND SCHEDULE 1 OF TAX RETURN, SELF EMPLOYMENT INCOME/EXPENSE FORM).
If you have no income or if the household's total eligible income is below the required threshold (there must be a face to face interview with an intake): (SELF-DECLARATION OF INCOME WORKSHEET, MONETARY/HOUSEHOLD ASSISTANCE LETTER, VERIFICATION OF NON-FILING TRANSCRIPT FROM IRS, VERIFICATION OF FOOD ASSISTANCE AND MEDICAL CARD, VERIFICATION OF CHILD SUPPORT RECEIVED, SCHPP; ; PAM VERIFICATION, INCOME EARNED BY DEPENDENT MINORS, TAX REFUND, SERVICE CONNECTED VA DISABILITY COMPENSATION.)
